Patty Yellis Memorial Fund for the Orphans of China

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for generously giving over $10,000 to our memorial fund. As you know, our family has been working closely with Living Hope International, a ministry that operates orphan training centers in China, for nine years. We're excited about a new program that will be funded with your donations.

Living Hope will use the Memorial Funds to assist in providing a home schooling experience for a new group of children. Ten children, ranging in age from two to four, will come from the local government orphanage to live in the Fuzhou home. (The children who currently live at the home are now too old to participate in such a program.)

In the fall of 2007, Patty, Mark, and several of the Yellis children visited the Fuzhou home and were planning to reside there on a part-year basis. The vision was twofold. First, to assist the staff in raising the children under their care. Second, to create the kind of program LHI just announced. Patty spent a lot of time with the orphanage director, planting the idea to bring in a teacher and curriculum in order to educate the children in a home context.

Patty and Mark's heart was to help this specific orphanage and staff to fulfill their role in raising Godly children. This program has great promise to help the children grow and learn. In China this is legal to do through the sixth grade.

We are very grateful for your generous contributions and are excited to begin this program in Fuzhou. Our hope and prayer is to make this program work with the first ten children and then expand it to as many as 40-50 new children. These would completely fill the current facility in Fuzhou.

Consider making an additional contribution to our fund. Your donation would help fully fund and begin to expand this program. It is a beginning doing what she was planning to do in China. We thank you for joining with us to honor our Mother, Wife, and dear friend.

Sincerely,

The Yellis Family
